I wish I had known about your blog about four years earlier than I did! Here in France there is no such speech regarding the role of the stepmom, only very contradictory opinions, from "why do you care?" to "you should always be nice like a friend and never having authority"... I had a hard time finding my own path, which thank God I have thanks to my step daughter (five also), because at the end of the day, it's about her and not me.
