Never Giving Up on Your Dreams

Several years ago, while going through my coach training program, I was paired up with Julie. Although I had many great coaching buddies, Julie stood out for me. A friend had asked Julie to walk a half marathon with her. She at first thought no way but what came out of her mouth was OK! She had no idea how she was going to accomplish this and before you knew it, she did five half marathons.
You see, Julie is blind. She became legally blind in 1997. But that didn’t stop her from accomplishing her dreams. During our session together, I heard in Julie’s voice just how important it was for her to reach her goals which included the half marathon and so we talked about her past successes. It came about that Julie had walked with a buddy and had doing very well.
After our session, Julie came to realize that the only limit was herself and that asking for help was what was preventing her from attaining her dream. She called this her silver lining. After having done 5 marathons and coaching others to achieve their goals, Julie is now a published author.

I am always so happy when I see people achieving their goals and dreams, never letting any excuses get in the way of their successes. The only thing really stopping you from getting what you really want is yourself.
Julie reached out and asked for help because this was important enough for her. In the process, she actually created a bigger and better goal for herself than she ever imagined. Don’t let your negative thoughts be the reason you don’t achieve your dreams. Ask for help and you’ll be amazed at what you will accomplish.
Thank you Julie for this wonderful life lesson.
