My little Part of Heaven part 2

I'm so very sad today. I was so excited all week as my tomatoes were really getting big (the size of a large orange) and just turning red. We would go get our newspaper every morning and admire the progress of our beautiful tomatoes. My husband kept asking if it was time to bring it in. I kept telling him that we needed to wait until they turned completely red.
The anticipation was building. When we got back from our weekend in Tennessee, we were excited to see that our tomatoes where well on their way of turning the beautiful red we were waiting for. By the weekend, we would be eating our first fresh tomato from our garden (well flowerpot if you want).
But this was not to be. This morning, as I was leaving for an appointment, I was looking for my tomatoes and was shocked to see they weren't there. I thought someone had played a trick on me but no! They were gone. It looked like some hungry thing got to them before we did. I even saw the evidence on the ground - crushed bits of juicy almost red tomatoes. I was devastated. I wanted to cry.
This was my first tomato and I got ripped off. I so wanted to impress my husband with my gardening talent. I felt like this was too much work if the animals are going to eat it all. My husband then looked at me and said "It's OK honey, we have some more. We'll just have to wait a bit longer, that's all". Oh boy, do I love this man.
Sometimes, we do everything right in hopes of getting the results we work so hard for. But unfortunately, it doesn't always work that way. We get little curve balls that make us really appreciate the good moments in life. I am now going to move my tomato plants onto my upper deck (I guess it was a good thing after all to put my plants in flowerpots) and watch them grow to be big and beautiful and this next tomato will be even more delicious.
Note: We have a few peppers coming too so those will be moved soon. Will keep you posted on my gardening skills. Enjoy.
