Do You Know How Many Stepmoms There Is?

MILLIONS!!!
That's right. There are over 1300 new stepfamilies being created daily (just do the math). And it's not just when you get married that you become a stepparent. Steprelationships start when you are seriously involve with your partner and started to include the children, whether you are married, living together or seriously dating one another.
There are many stepmoms in the media as well as in our day to day lives. The good thing about all of this is that they look nothing like Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music or Carol from the Brady Bunch.
I watched these shows when I was younger and I'm sure that it influenced how I dealt with my relationship as a stepparent.
We just didn't get it that it would be that hard. How could it? Even Julia Roberts in Stepmom didn't make it look too bad.
Luckily, stepmoms today have the good fortune of having lots of information available at their fingertips. I've started being more active on several forums (some more than others) to see what today's stepmom's biggest challenge is.
Follow me as I answer some of the tough questions that some stepparents face.
One group that I've discovered and like is called Circle Mom. If you are a stepmom and would like and invitation, let me know. But please, remember, these forum are meant for others to feel supported, not put down. Always come to these discussions with an open mind.
