Since 1990, I’ve been a stepmother to two stepdaughters as well as a mother to my son. Together as a family, we have been through many ups and downs. We’ve had great moments as well as really trying ones. But each of these moments have brought us valuable lessons where we learned from each other the value of being a family.

My experience as a stepmother left me wanting to learn more about the dynamics of stepfamilies. Through research, training and personal experience, I’ve learned how to deal with the good and the bad times and have learned a lot from our shared experience.

Stepfamilies function on a different paradigm than traditional families. Understanding their make-up is key to providing the help and resources stepfamilies are looking for today. I understand stepfamilies and have been there.
